Hello everyone, you are on Alexis’s blog for a new post. And today, i am going to talk about my amazing journey in Western Canada. From Vancouver to Drumheller, be ready to discover incredible landscapes and wonderful people !
Amazing Scenery
Visiting Canada is something you cannot forget. The wilderness, the colors of the landscape, the shape of the moutains under the blue sky, the reflection of the glaciers on the lakes, all of this looks so untouched, so wild, ! I was litterally stunned ! It is like if humankind had never found this place, a place were Nature remains intact.
Wildlife to protect
Canada is one of the richest country in the world for biodiversity, with thousands of animal species, like wolves, eagles, deers and more. But all these animals are in danger, because of the urbanisation, the deforestation and the countructions of highways, which kills thousands of animals every year.
That is why canadians built many bridges over the highways to allow animals to cross the road. These bridges look like a real forest !
Original Events
When you are travelling across Canada, you can find some unexpected surprises, traditional events like Stampede in Calgary, an impressive rodeo, or the “Polar Bear Swim” in Vancouver, were thousands of people are running into the freezing pacific ocean.
Theses events are amazing, because you can see how canadians are connected to their land, and to each other. Everyone can participate, and there is a merry atmosphere, I had so much fun !
An Industrial issue
If there is one “negative point” in western Canada, it is probably about oil mining industry. But dont take me wrong, this country remains one of the most incredible places I’ve ever seen, and I encourage everyone to visit it !
Still, dont be surprised if you see a lot of large oil mining complexes, but remember that: Canadian oil is, with wood, one of the only ressource of the country. It provide jobs, and have a great effect on the local economy, and pollution is reduced to the mininum.
Thanks to mining, I also had the chance to see dinausor bones, in the Alberta Paleontologist Museum, because thoses bones are often located near the oilfields.
Conclusion
Alberta is one of the most beautiful place on earth, so dont wait. Go !
